Backyard Wedding with Horses / Montrose, PA

Ashlynn & Mark were introduced thanks to Mark’s sister, Meagan (who is now also one of our brides!!! Hooray for family weddings!) who was friend’s with Ashlynn in college! Mark was a gentleman and drove 2 hours to her parent’s house to pick her up for their first date and they knew right away there was something special there. A nursing degree, 2 new horse barns and a home together later, they gathered with their family & friends to celebrate their vows to each other! Mark and his business partner & friend, Holden along with other family & friends built this amazing pavilion on Mark’s parents property! It was beautifully made and I love how they will be able to use it for so many gatherings in the years to come! So special! Ashlynn chose to have the Sperry tent for the dinner tent and I love how they used pumpkins to decorate!

The girls got ready at Fieldstone Farm Bed & Breakfast in Montrose, PA which was a beautiful country setting that was close to the ceremony & reception! The guys got ready at Mark’s parents house and quickly went out to see the tractors and help hitch up the horses. We love when the guys can do something like that as it makes the groomsmen photos much more relaxed and fun so as you are wedding planning, try to think of activities for the guys to do before the wedding! The first look with Ashlynn & her Dad made us tear up and then we went right into the first look with Mark before doing bridal party photos! It was so special to get photos of Ashlynn & Mark with her horses…it was a remake of engagement photos and I can’t wait for family photos with the horses one day 😉

The ceremony was on the hill and the guests could ride the hayride up with Ashlynn arriving in the horse drawn carriage! It was a lovely ceremony before everyone headed back down the hill for the party! We love how relaxed and laid back receptions are when they take place at a private property. There’s no rules, you can go with the flow & do it however you’d like! Everyone enjoyed spending time together before dinner and then the dance floor was full all night! We loved getting to see other couples that we have photographed their weddings … Amelia & Holden, Emmy & Jesse, & Chelsea & Chris!! It’s such a blessing that they trusted us when we just started photography and it’s so fun to watch their love continue to grow over the years!!

We love weddings where you can truly enjoy each moment without feeling rushed or pressured to do it a certain way. From getting ready with her mom to fishing with her nephew to getting to dance the night away with her husband, Ashlynn nailed planning the wedding just enough that everything went well but not too much that she was too stressed to enjoy it! It’s a balancing act but it’s worth it when you can be in the moment and enjoy all those precious minutes on your wedding day with your favorite people!!
