At Seneca Ryan Co. we have a heart for LOVE - not just beautiful wedding days, but beautiful marriages, beautiful families and beautiful memories of your life together 50 years from now.
2020 was a year like no other and hopefully 2021 will follow suit, but in “wow what an awesome way to celebrate” kind of way. We’re seeing a lot of couples doing their own thing and owning it in big ways. So here’s our predictions for 2021 and some of the best ideas we’ve seen lately!
Hybrid Weddings
The future of events is going hybrid and we’re not mad about it. Micro weddings, split date events, on-site overflow weddings, and virtual events will continue to be popular. Personally, I think this is something couples have been leaning to for years. Smaller guest lists offer a more intimate feeling, and our generation craves that! We’re also seeing that smaller weddings are leading to a bigger focus on guest experience and a larger “per guest” spending budget. As the pandemic starts to resolve we wouldn’t be surprised to see large events start to roll in either-people have been cooped up and want to throw a rager of a wedding!
Over the Top Decor
Even with smaller guest counts, couples are focusing on the smaller details and that wow factor. No one wants a ‘cookie-cutter’ wedding! Large florals will play a part here with big bouquets and artistic blooms. Color palettes will range from neutrals to varying blues to grand canyon colors. Ceremonies are getting decked out with unique arbors, and we’re seeing boho touches stick around too. In the same way, brides are hiring planners and decorators to run with their inspiration and have a stress-free day. Leave it to the pros!
Venues
I’m loving how creative couples are getting with venues! Backyard weddings are definitely a big trend as you have a little more freedom to spread out. But also couples are choosing art galleries, the restaurant they had their first date, and weekend getaways. Welcome parties, brunch, and live music/games will all be incorporated. A lot of couples are looking for that weekend experience where the bridal party and guests can stay on site and enjoy themselves. A few local favorites for this? The Farm at Cottrell Lake, Lackawac Sanctuary, Pump House, and Camp Bluestone all boast weekend wedding packages where the entire bridal party can hang out.
Giving Back
2020 was a challenging year for many couples looking to get hitched. So it’s no surprise that couples are filled with gratitude and looking forward to ways to give back: to the community and to their loved ones. Giving flowers to nursing homes or shelters, having little to none food waste, and giving to charities as favors are all great ways to do this.
Creative Solutions
Since we don’t know exactly when COVID-19 will completely end, it is important to keep safety and health in mind. Thankfully, there are so many creative solutions out there! 56% of couples have changed their food service to plated meals. Individual mini cakes, small charcuterie boards, and pre-poured cocktails will all steal the show. Many events are thinking outside the box in terms of seating and event flow to keep everyone spaced out. Think tables assigned by family members, multiple bar areas, and lounges.
Ultimately, couples are doing whatever the hell they want in order for their personality and love to really shine. I’m seeing brides have a lot less stress worrying about inviting or not inviting kids and wondering what great aunt Susy will think if her sister isn’t invited. And I love it! Your wedding day is about YOU and your love to each other. Let’s create a new age of stress-free wedding planning and positive vibes all around.
