The first few weeks/months of wedding planning tend to be the most stressful because it’s a new territory, there’s lots of emotions, and there’s many people that need to be included on the big decisions. Here are some tips to help have a smooth planning process:
1. Have a budget.
Let’s be real, the only way to plan a wedding on a budget, is to literally have a budget. Figure out who is paying for the wedding, and work from there. If you and your beloved are doing out of pocket, look at your finances together and decide what you can/want to afford.
2. Have a plan
The best way to get the most bang for you buck is to have a fool-proof plan of where your money will be going. Decide what you want your wedding to look like (i.e. theme, colors, etc.) and do your homework for the best prices.
3. Have flexibility
If it is imperative that you stick to your budget, then you won’t want to be looking at venues, and things that are on the fence price-wise. Give yourself room for errors.
4. Have a reasonable mindset
There is a lot out there for budget-savy weddings. Be careful that you still remain true to yourself, and don’t make budget cuts that you will regret. On the flipside, weddings are expensive, so you will have to decide what’s worth the money.
5. Have fun!
Don’t be so concerned with saving money that you end up hyperventilating when your order at hobby lobby didn’t contain anything on sale.
Your wedding is going to be beautiful, because you are beautiful. Remember what’s important, work hard, and it will all work out!
