9:10am our phones would go off with a reminder to pray for our future husbands. It was something Rachel & I decided to do after chatting one day and about a month later, we had a picnic dinner date in Rachel’s front field and took a walk around the orchard. She mentioned this “Jesus loving Doctor” who this lady at the lake she went to kayak on introduced her too. He was always fishing off a dock near the public boat launch. Rachel decided to send him a Facebook friend request that night as we were on our walk. “He’s probably not even single!” The next day, Oliver accepted her friend request and after a few messages, they decided to go for a kayak ride around the lake together that very night after work. Oliver spent the next 3 hours peppering Rachel with question after question trying to figure out who this girl was who just paddled into his life. They were both smitten and that one little paddle around the lake turned into seeing each other many more times that week! 

They both knew they had found something really special. Rachel tagged along for fishing and Oliver tagged along to numerous community events that Rachel loved. They found their new rhythm and were officially dating! As a friend, there’s nothing you want more than to see your friend happy and I was over the moon to get to see how God had answered our prayer within ONE MONTH. Oliver knew she was the one when Rachel went hunting with him and wanted to help him gut the deer and they spent many weekends in the stand together last winter. 

When Oliver popped the question, it was decided that they would have a wedding at Quaker Lake where their love story began! And oh what a beautiful day it was! From the relaxed atmosphere of the girl’s getting ready and making their own bouquets from flowers Rachel foraged from the woods, to the guys hanging out having so much fun with their new guns, to the fishing between the ceremony and reception to the ice cream scooping instead of cake cutting. They enjoyed Nirchi’s pizza for breakfast and a good pulled pork picnic for lunch! It was such a unique day that was so THEM. 

Rachel & Oliver’s ceremony was the most thoughtful and emotional ceremony I’ve ever been to and I love their vows to each other. Rachel surprised Oliver with singing a song to him while playing the Ukulele which was super sweet too. I was so thankful for how Rachel & Oliver trusted us to capture their day and gave us so much time for photos! When you prioritize photos and give your photographer your full attention, you will get amazing photos! 

After photos, the bridal party went out for a cocktail hour boat ride before joining the party at the Quaker Lake Cottage Association where Rachel blew it out of the water with her decorating skills. Seriously SO good! Rachel hand-painted different fish with fun facts about each fish as the table numbers and had bouquets from the flowers she foraged (plus she got some from Candice at Patchwork Planting) adorning each table. Rachel & Oliver are the type of people that make you feel loved and welcome when you are around them and their wedding portrayed that perfectly!
