At Seneca Ryan Co. we have a heart for LOVE - not just beautiful wedding days, but beautiful marriages, beautiful families and beautiful memories of your life together 50 years from now.
As your wedding day countdown app is ticking closer to your original wedding date and you are sad because your wedding is postponed, let’s brainstorm ways to celebrate your original wedding date!
Love deserves to be celebrated, whether that is with 200 people or with just you and your honey! There’s many ways to celebrate marriage and although there are definitely traditions that may feel like the only way, there’s no right or wrong way to celebrate! Given our current circumstances, it allows everyone to take a step away from traditions and evaluate what is important to them and I think that’s an awesome thing! How many things in life do we do just because we think we are supposed to do it that way? Covid-19 is changing all of our lives in some way, let’s look for the positive and choose the positive in what we can.
Elope!
On your original wedding date, you can still get married! Covid-19 doesn’t need to stop you from getting married! If you choose to elope now, you can always have your dream wedding reception in the future when it is safe to have a large gathering!
If you choose to elope, our friends at Chippy White Table for Northeast Pennsylvania brides and She Rents Vintage for Syracuse NY brides have awesome options to make it unique & beautiful!
Order a mini wedding cake! Get a bouquet of flowers! Get dressed up!
Make the day a little mini celebration with a mini wedding cake, a bouquet of flowers for the table, dinner for 2 and of course champagne! You can choose to get dressed up fancy or keep it casual but pull out all the stops for a quarantine date night! Many bakeries are still open for curbside pickup so you can order, get takeout for dinner or if you are feeling ambitious you can make it a whole date day and cook up dinner together!
Take lots of photos of this special day with your cell phone. Capture this moment in history. Right now it may feel too raw but one day you will look back with fond memories of this time you have right now.
Schedule a photo shoot of just you two (once it’s safe to do so)
Just because you won’t have wedding photos until next year or you eloped, doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful photos capturing what your love looked like in 2020. This is a time in history that we are all living through. One day you will be telling your grandkids about the time we were all stuck at home for months on end and how you and their grandpa decided to elope or had to plan another wedding for the following year. Document it!
Go for a hike and take a picnic with you!
Getting outside and moving is a good way to help relieve some stress and get some vitamin d to boost your mood! Doing it together makes it even better! Take a picnic and stop and smell the roses!
Set up a video chat with your family & friends who would have been at the wedding dancing the night away with you!
Video conferencing used to be a thing only for the tech savvy but now it’s what is keeping everyone connected. I am sure everyone will love the excuse to get a glass of wine and chat with so many others that love you! It’s a bit of a virtual wedding reception and you can all look forward to seeing each other in person soon!
Work on planning your postponed wedding! Dream about the future!
Spend some time working on wedding planning that you need to do! Talk with your wedding planner to see what you can work on, send bridesmaid dress options to your girls, order your bridal shower dress. Do something fun for the future wedding!
What a perfect time to dream about where you want to travel for your honeymoon! You have lots of time to research options and daydream about the day you’ll be able to leave your house 😉
Do what feels right to you & your fiancé / husband
We are all living in a new unknown normal and we need to understand that some days are going to be good or ok and some days are going to be hard as we navigate this. Have lots of grace for yourself and your significant other and do what feels right.
