Winter, it has it’s good and bad moments that’s for sure! We have the holidays and magical moments but we also have the no sun dark days that get to us all after awhile don’t they?! Well, during these next few months I think it’s always a good idea to give yourself some fun things to do even when it might not be that nice outside! One perk of winter is it makes you get creative with what you want to do, but one great and fun thing to do any time of year but especially during these cold months is go on dates! Cozy up inside a warm place and enjoy some great food with your significant other or maybe even your friends! It’s a great way to make plans and have something to look forward to while you await spring time after the holidays! However, you don’t have to wait until after the holidays, heck what better time to go on a fun little date then now, when all the magic is happening around you! I have a few places that are on my list to either revisit soon and places I have yet to try! So below I’ve listed some of our favorite places to go and places that are next on my list to try!
All places near Scranton, PA
Bar Pazzo
Italian
This is a restaraunt that I am dying to try! I’ve passed by it for years and never once have I been for dinner. Then recently I’ve had about three people mention to me how it’s one of their absolute favorite places to dine and how delicious it is! It is a modern Italian restaraunt and I’ve heard rave reviews over their seasonal unique menu, whipped ricotta, homemade gelato, and so much more! It’s honestly the next place on my list to go, I mean who doesn’t love a taste of Italy? We visited the Amalfi Coast about a year ago and now I’m dying to get some fresh gelato, so sign me up!
State Street Grill
Modern Bar and Grill
A very well known restaraunts in the area with a delicious modern New York like take on a menu! We love their appetizers like the bang bang shrimp and their charcuterie boards! They also have my absolute favorite Moscow mule drink where they give it a seasonal twist during the holidays! Mainly though, not only is the food yummy but they now have IGLOOS! When I passed by I was like, that’s the coolest thing! They were really thinking, and now I have to visit this winter because I mean how often do you get to eat in a heated igloo?!
Ale Mary’s
Modern Pub Spot
This was a pub restaraunt we happened to try out quite a few years ago and we ended up really loving it! If you are in the mood for some really yummy pub food, try it out! We had things like duck sliders and reuben wontons. Innovative, delicious, and comfort food at its best! Also we went on a Friday night once and they had great live acoustic music!
Peculiar Slurp
A Modern Ramen Place
This is another “ next on the list” place for us! My husband loves Asian cuisine especially noodle bowls. It’s probably up there for his top favorite food. I’ve heard this new place is absolutely delicious and very affordable! Everyone I know who has been said it was fantastic, the dishes were delish and unique, the people were so nice, and the price was amazing. So you better believe it’s a must stop for us soon, and you probably should too!
Alter House
Fine French Dining
A fine dining restaraunt that came on the scene to the area not all that long ago! You won’t get to experience fine dining like this many other places in the area. It makes for a perfect special date night! It’s a French restaraunt, and if you know anything about French food is that whatever you order is going to be cooked “ just right”! I’ve heard their specialty drinks are amazing and they just added Sunday brunch which I’ve heard great things about! I’m actually anxious to try out their brunch here soon! Definitely a place to visit if you are looking for a finer dining experience for a special occasion!
Henry’s On Clay
Beautiful Brunch Spot
So this is a top for me! I absolutely adore this little brunch spot! Now I know this doesn’t count as “ date night” but it is a fantastic place to go for brunch! It opened a year ago and I’ve been so many times! The food is definitely my cup of tea, full of flavor, pretty to look at, fun and innovative, and doesn’t brake the bank. The ambiance inside is my absolute favorite, so much natural light and their design is beautiful. The people who own and work there are lovely and they know how to make a coffee! This is a must stop! From chicken and waffles, to Dutch babies, to yummy soup, to French churros, I mean it’s endless ways you can’t go wrong.
Camelot
Quaint Inn and Cozy Restaurant
A really cozy and English like restaraunt we thoroughly enjoy. The food is delicious and they have food for everyone from people who like your traditional spaghetti and meatballs to innovative modern dishes. I’ve honestly gone here even just for their dessert because their creme brûlée is soo good! They use real vanilla beans and a raspberry sauce and it’s just great! It’s a lovely place for a family, group gathering, girl’s night, or date night! Really good option for delicious food and a warm cozy environment!
