My First Day as a Wedding Photographer…

I’ll never forget June 1, 2013 when I photographed my first wedding. It was the hottest day of the year, but I didn’t even feel it. I was on a high and ran around like crazy that day soaking in every single moment. It was that day that I found what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It’s so hard to put into words what happened that day but I still remember how happy I was that day.

Olivia was one of the first seniors I had photographed the year before and when they asked me to photograph their wedding, I dove into learning as much as I could about wedding photography. I was thrilled and also so nervous, thinking here they are trusting a 15 year old who had never photographed a wedding to photograph their special day, I need to do a good job!

The wedding was at the Mitchell Family barn right outside of Montrose and they transformed it into a dreamy venue with details galore. The day was stunning, from the vows, to the fun dances, to the special guests. They had a couple different live bands playing throughout the reception, Amish family friends catered the food, and they even had a little petting zoo for the kids. It was a FUN wedding, anyone who knows the family, they love to have fun so this is no surprise that Olivia’s wedding would be fun for everyone!

I think I smiled all day long, my face hurt from being SO happy. I never doubted what I wanted to do after that day and it was the start of chasing hard after that dream!

Olivia & JM, thank you for taking a chance and trusting me to capture your wedding day! You will never know how grateful I am for that opportunity!

Here’s a little walk down memory lane with photos from the first wedding I photographed…

That photo above is of me, cheesing so hard, because I was so happy that day. Not going to lie, I’m pretty sure I still cheese all day at weddings, because I still love them!
