Personal, cozy, and joyful are just a few words to describe Colleen and Steve’s emotional and intimate wedding at Pocono Palms Venue in Cresco, PA. With a small guest list, the couple was able to focus on creating a special moment with each guest and cultivate a welcoming and inviting atmosphere. Even with a shorter guest list, there was no lack of detail or moments to be captured. With Seneca and Becca as associate photographers and Eva capturing all the social media content, the Bride and Groom were able to relax and know that everything from the ceremony kiss to the sweet glance from across the room would be documented.
Personal details such as table runners with significant Bible verses, a box of handwritten love notes from Steve to Colleen that were collected overtime, a remembrance chair at the beginning of the isle with mementos to loved ones who passed, and a symbolic drawing of a cardinal were sprinkled throughout the venue spaces. Being in that venue truly felt like they invited everyone into their love story and who they are together as a couple.
The Love Story
Although full of many intentional details, the main focus the couple had for the day was giving praise and thanks to God for bringing them together and the goodness in their lives. They both started attending the same church on the exact same day, December 11 to be exact! Colleen knew right away that she liked Steve and wanted to go out with him so the weeks going by without an invitation to date felt like forever.
Once they went on their first date in August the following year, Colleen & Steve knew they had found the one. In December of the following year, Steve thoughtfully planned out a proposal to Colleen with all of her family and best friends in town. He popped the question when she was least expecting it without any hair or makeup done and weeks old nail polish. Proposals are about loving someone as they are without any extras and that really shined in Steve’s approach.
The Big Day
With cloudy skies looming, Steve and his closest guys were getting ready in log cabins at Magnolia Streamside Resort. It was the perfect serene location to get some clarity and peace before the impending chaos of a wedding day. As the guys were enjoying the quiet of the outdoors, Colleen had the worship music blasting in the bridal suite at Pocono Palms while completing the final touches to her hair and makeup. After getting in her dress, Colleen had an emotional first look with her dad and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The air was full of buzzing excitement as the couple anticipated their first look down the aisle!
Guests began arriving for the ceremony and taking their seats. With a short processional, it wasn’t long before the big moment of the Bride and Groom seeing each other for the first time down the aisle. Their smiles were electric as Colleen walked arm in arm with her parents towards her future husband. After the first kiss as Mr. & Mrs., Colleen and Steve wanted the first thing they did together was to worship. The Hope Worship Group played a beautiful song and all of the guests were invited to join along with a copy of lyrics on each seat. Afterwards, the newlyweds finished the ceremony with a traditional walk down the aisle with a dip kiss!
The soft raindrops falling outside set the perfect moody backdrop for the couple’s vision of their emotional & intimate May wedding at Pocono Palms. As the sky got darker, the soft lighting and mini lamps adorning the dinner tables cultivated the cozy atmosphere in the reception space. Hallmarks of the reception were sentimental dances with loved ones and heartfelt speeches full of laughter and tears. Dinner was served and for dessert, Colleen and Steve treated their guests to a loaded ice cream bar! A special touch of the day was Eva, one of our photographers, giving the couple a jar she had set out in the rain so the newlyweds would forever have some raindrops from their special day. It was so fun as a team to give this sweet couple a small piece of such a big day!
Congratulations Colleen & Steve!
