Getting Ready in Downtown Skaneateles | The Sherwood Inn
Jen began her wedding morning at The Sherwood Inn, a historic boutique inn nestled right in downtown Skaneateles. It was the kind of calm, light-filled morning that sets the tone for an incredible day, intentional, unrushed, and surrounded by the people who know her best.
The Sherwood Inn is one of my favorite getting-ready locations in Skaneateles. It offers classic architecture, charming interiors, and the convenience of being steps away from the heart of town, all while feeling intimate and timeless. Jen’s details were thoughtfully chosen, including deeply meaningful heirlooms: a locket honoring her grandmother woven into her bouquet and a ring passed down from her mother. These personal touches are always what elevate a wedding day from beautiful to unforgettable.
Jack got ready nearby with his closest people, carrying his own family legacy with him, wearing his late grandfather’s cufflinks, a quiet and powerful reminder of the generations cheering them on.
A Meaningful First Look & Ceremony at The Lodge at Welch Allyn
Jen & Jack chose The Lodge at Welch Allyn for their ceremony and reception, a full-service luxury wedding venue just outside of downtown Skaneateles. Nestled into the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes, The Lodge offers a seamless experience for couples who want their day to feel both elevated and effortless.
Their first look was filled with emotion, the kind you can’t script. Jack’s reaction said everything, and it set the tone for a ceremony that felt deeply personal and grounded in love. As Jen walked down the aisle, surrounded by summer florals in sage green with bright, joyful pops of color, there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
What stood out most wasn’t just the beauty of the venue (though it truly is stunning), but the way Jen & Jack centered their day around connection, parents’ reactions, shared glances, and the overwhelming support of family and friends who have walked alongside them through every chapter. Both Jen & Jack’s moms were so involved in the wedding process and seeing their absolute joy on the wedding day was so beautiful!
A Celebration Focused on Experience, Not a Photoshoot
One thing Jen & Jack cared deeply about was that their wedding day never felt like a production. They wanted to be fully present, to laugh, dance, hug their people, and soak it all in.

Looking Ahead to Their Next Chapter
Jen & Jack’s wedding marked the beginning of an exciting season of change. As Jack transitions from the Air Force into his career as a commercial pilot and they prepare for a move to Denver, their wedding felt less like a finish line and more like a celebration of everything they’re building together.
Their day was filled with intention, legacy, and so much joy and photographing it in Skaneateles was an absolute honor.
