What made you want to work in the wedding industry? Fate pretty much led us into the wedding world. We collected 120 unique chairs for our own wedding and that’s pretty much what started our habit of hoarding beautiful old things. My grandfather was simply blown away by the way we decorated and set-up our wedding, that when we passed away just a month after our wedding, we left us with his personal antique collection and his old shop to store everything in. It wasn’t quite the plan to go into vintage rentals, but as soon as Forget-me-not was born, it has been a crazy road. After three successful wedding seasons, I’m so happy I declined my seat for the graduate program I was headed into after we got married and I couldn’t be happier being in business with Derek!

What’s your favorite part of weddings? For us, it’s all about the aesthetics of a wedding. My favorite part is the reaction from the couple as they get a sneak peek of their reception space just before they head off to the ceremony. It never gets old and it’s truly a validation that our work was a job well done!
What’s your favorite part of meeting new couples? I love talking to couples and getting a sense for their style and the vibe that they want for their wedding. It’s such a thrill for me and I always leave our meetings with so many ideas reeling trough my mind!
When should brides be booking you? We are usually the next step after the venue and photographer are selected. We usually book pretty far in advance, especially for our larger packages that involve our styling services or all access to our inventory because we only take one of those per weekend. We book anywhere from two years in advance to just 3 months in advance. My advice is to book whenever you’re ready, so that it’s taken care of and there are no broken hearts if someone already snagged your date. I also advise securing the ‘must-have’ list and then adding pieces as it makes sense to. You can always make changes until just three week before the big day!
What marriage advice can you give to couples? Spouses don’t let spouses get ‘hangry’. Trust me folks! Not only are Derek and I partners in life (and crime — jk!), but we’re business partners as well. We swear that the key to a happy and healthy marriage is to always have a full belly — especially when dealing with stress (like packing a 16ft trailer with 170 non-stackable chairs).
