Hey new friend! Summer break is finally here which means senior portrait season is here! If you’re part of the Class of 2018, you’re in the right spot! It’s never too early to start thinking about senior photos…our calendar fills up fast and we know yours does too in the summer! Let’s chat about your senior session before you head off on vacation so when you come home nice & tan, we can hang out!
When should I schedule my senior session?
I recommend scheduling your session for the summer or fall of your senior year. The summer is great to get the bright colors & green but if you’re looking for a more country feel, the fall foliage would be a better time for your session. However, it’s best to contact us now and get your date before they are booked. Yearbook photos are typically due in October which means that your session needs to take place by the middle of September in order to get your photos back in time.
What makes your senior portrait experience different from the other photographers?
THE SENIOR EXPERIENCE IS ALL ABOUT CELEBRATING WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE, AWESOME, AND BEAUTIFUL. It’s not just about the photos here at Photography by Seneca, it’s about creating an experience that you’ll always remember as a great start to your senior year! I want to capture who you are right now before you head out on the newest adventure of adulthood. We customize each photo session to portray your personality and hobbies, I don’t believe in stiff, awkward posing. I will guide you through natural poses, you don’t need any modeling experience, I promise!
To the mom’s: One of the things that parent’s have told us often over the past 5 years of photographing seniors is how they love that we listen to their ideas as well. Yes, we want to showcase who your daughter/son is but we also want to make sure that you have the perfect senior portrait to hang on your wall too. You are invited to come to the senior session with us to be a part of the fun!
Where does the photo session take place?
This is up to you! I have lots of different location options located in the Montrose area that have fields, old barns, ponds, flowers, stonewalls and more. If you have a meaningful place that you would like photos taken then we will do the session there. If you play a sport and want part of the session on the field then we will meet at the school. Once I hear from you, we’ll set up a day for your senior session to take place. Once we make things official, I’ll send over a Senior Prep email filled with awesome tips & tricks that will allow you to prepare your outfits, hair & makeup, and feel AWESOME before we meet up and rock out your session. Now it’s time to throw the ultimate party, my favorite part! We’ll meet at the chosen location and spend a full hour working through poses, interactions, and capturing you in a fun & genuine way!
What should I wear?
Picking out an outfit for a normal day is hard enough so I totally understand how tricky it is to pick out outfits for your senior session! I put together this Pinterest board for some inspiration. When you book your senior session, you will be emailed our style guide that gives other inspiration and tips on things to avoid or makeup tips!
What else do I need to know about senior photos with Photography by Seneca?
We are going to have FUN! Senior sessions are filled with laughter and you might even end up at the ice cream shop to finish out your senior session because Seneca loves getting ice cream with her seniors & it makes for cute photos!
