Winter & Ice Festivals
One great date idea during the winter months is to go to a festival! There are tons of festivals to choose from. Some might be right in your local town and some a few hours away! However, no matter what if you plan to make a day out of it there are so many to choose from. Clarks Summit just had their annual ice festival and Jim Thorpe just had their annual winter fest last weekend, but there are many events still coming. Scranton’s St. Patty’s parade is coming up in a few weeks and we all know many people flock to that event! Harrisburg is having their Ice&Fire festival March 7th. Tunkhannock is having a little “Winter Fest” at their local movie theatre this weekend also, with local wine and old films! There are so many little cute events or larger festivals going on all year round, even during this time of year! If you go to DiscoverNEPA.com, VisitPA.com, or iloveny.com you will find a list of all events nearby!
Ice Skating
One great thing to always do during these months is to go ice skating! Pick a day and go to your local lake and pack a cute lunch OR go to your local ice skating rink and then go out to dinner after! Such a fun and easy way to have a little fun during these cold months! However, if you really wanna go all out, make a trip to NYC and go skating at Rockefeller center! Doesn’t get much more romantic than that. I have to practice my ice skating skills myself. It’s been way too long since I’ve skated!
Ice Fishing
Now I get that this might not be everyones cup of tea, haha! However, if you enjoy outdoorsy fun and are looking for something a little different to do, maybe try out some ice fishing. One of our favorite summer pastimes is fishing and even better when we pack a picnic! It’s just such a peaceful and relaxing way to spend time together. So maybe bundle up, pack a cute little picnic array of foods, some warm coffee to go, a few chairs, and try out some fishing on the ice!
Winter Hikes
Hands down a top favorite thing I love doing. So many options with this. You could keep it simple and go hiking right by your house if you live in the country like me, you could drive to your local state park and check out some trails, or you could make an event out of it and go to a cool mountain and make a day out of it! I’ve been to Hawk mountain and hiked in the winter and it was really fun and the view was great. I love just hiking nearby though also. You can take a hot warm drink with you and just talk and enjoy nature and the fresh air. Pick a nice day, we’ve been having some pretty beautiful warm ones, and get some exercise! Guaranteed you will feel so refreshed after!
Igloo Dining
Something I still have to get around to doing this winter before they are gone! Such a fun and different way to dine! Two of our local restaurants currently have them! State Street Grill and The Beaumont Inn. Both offer delicious food and cute igloo dining! So call ahead and make a cute date night out of it!
Movies
A Super easy date idea, just go to the movies! Go with your significant other or invite a few friends and go see a movie and maybe grab some dinner. East way to stay warm from the cold!
Visiting Towns
A less obvious date idea, but sometimes the best. Just pick a town you haven’t been to in awhile or one you’ve been wanting to visit and make a day out of it! Try out those restaurants that have been looking so good on Instagram or research the best stops before you go. Check out their local cafe and sit with a hot drink for an hour or so and just chat. Browse around the little boutiques or shops. Take some cute pictures. Just have fun! Some of my favorite days were spent browsing around/enjoying new or favorite towns!
Stay In
Always a great and cozy option during these cold times! Plan a night to stay in but make it cute and fun. Pick up some items to make a charcuterie board, always delicious and fun, and maybe a bottle of your favorite wine or whatever fancy drinks you like! Think of a movie or show you’ve been wanting to watch or maybe play a game. You could plan the evening just with you and your significant other or maybe a few friends also! I even picked up some charcuterie board items for dinner one night this week to pair with some wine because it’s just a fun special way to have dinner together. It seems to create fun conversation as you can try new things and taste together. Simple but true!
