On a modern romantic lakeside June wedding day, Katie & Tom committed to love each other forever at the stunning Skaneateles Country Club. From beginning to end, Katie & Tom’s day was spectacular and seeing their vision come to life was really special! They both are extremely down to earth and we felt like lifelong friends by the end of our time working together! This was such a beautiful modern romantic lakeside June wedding that we will never forget!!
How They Met
Hearing different love stories is one of our favorite parts about getting to work with couples because everyone has a unique story to tell! Here is how Katie told their story in her own words: “We met at Penn State because we had a lot of mutual friends. We were just friendly in college, more like acquaintances I’d say. We saw each other at a few PSU tailgates in the fall 2017 after graduation. Then in Sept 2018 we really reconnected at the Pitt v. Penn State game in Pittsburgh. We talked almost everyday thereafter even though I was living outside DC and he was living in West Virginia. Tom can be a little slow to warm so it took him a while to finally admit we should give it a try haha! But the rest is history…” I love how they didn’t force any feelings or rush into anything and just waited until the time was right! These two compliment each other so well.
The Engagement
After dating for a few years, Katie & Tom knew they had found their perfect match and all that was left was for Tom to propose to Katie! He wanted to surprise Katie and knowing her so well, he kept the engagement simple and not out of the ordinary otherwise Katie would be suspicious. Tom chose one of their favorite hiking spots in Skaneateles to propose and they were able to bring their pup Mylie. While overlooking a large pond, Tom asked Katie to be his wife and she accepted! Afterwards, both sides of the family joined them for a celebratory dinner to congratulate the new fiancé’s!
The Lakeside June Wedding Day
June 29, 2024 had finally arrived for Katie & Tom and with excitement they both began getting ready to tie the knot. With her closest ladies, Katie slipped into the dress of her dreams, re-wore her mother’s wedding veil, clasped her nana’s sapphire tennis bracelet, and added pearl earrings from her fiancé, she was full of excited butterflies. The groom and his lifelong friends were putting on their dapper bow ties all while Tom couldn’t wait to see his blushing bride. Overlooking the water, Katie & Tom had their first look and got to take some photos with immediate family. Then, surrounded by 170 of their closest friends and family, Katie & Tom exchanged their vows, rings, and a sweet kiss to become husband and wife!
Cocktail hour immediately followed the ceremony and guests enjoyed craft drinks and divine food while Katie & Tom slipped away to take a breath and take their first portraits as husband and wife. The perfectly manicured landscaping and docks overlooking the lake made perfect photo locations for us to photograph the newlyweds. There was also a breeze on the docks which helped bring some fun drama and organic laughs to the photos! Katie & Tom were able to catch the end of cocktail hour and enjoyed the drinks, appetizers, and seeing their guests before they moved into the reception room.
Let The Party Begin!
After guests were seated, the band started playing to welcome the bridal party and the new Mr. & Mrs! After their first dance, Katie and her dad stunned the dance floor with lots of twirls and smiles. Tom and his mom were up next and enjoyed the special time together. Katie’s dad, the matron of honor and best man gave genuine toasts to the couple that had everyone smiling from ear to ear. While overlooking Lake Skaneateles, guests settled in as dinner was served. The band opened up the dance floor as guests made their way over to drink and dance with Katie & Tom. To finish off their modern romantic lakeside June wedding day, Katie’s Nana gifted them a surprise firework display and it was nothing short of magical.
Congratulations to Katie & Tom!!
