Julia and Michael’s lavish and elegant August wedding was a highlight for us this year! From the touching ceremony, effortless portraits, and an unforgettable reception held at Glenmaura National Golf Club, this late August wedding was a day to remember. As highschool sweethearts, Julia and Michael have anticipated this day for a long time and they were determined to enjoy every moment together and celebrate with those closest to them. We were very blessed to have previously met Julia and Michael when we photographed two of their siblings’ weddings, Mike and Michele. It’s been such an honor to be a part of so many special family moments for this amazing family and it’s not lost on us how special that is!
Their Love Story
Throughout the years, Julia and Michael’s love has withstood the test of time and many life changes. Here is Julia telling their love story in her own words: Our story started in the halls of North Pocono, where we first crossed paths during their elementary school days. As time passed and we transitioned from the halls of middle and high school, our friendship flourished and evolved into more. After graduating from North Pocono, we both found ourselves on the same path yet again, this time at Gettysburg College. Our college years were filled with unforgettable memories, academic achievements, and a love that continued to deepen. Post-grad, we spent time living in New York City and Hoboken and made frequent trips across the Hudson to explore our new cities together. Our adventures then led us to Austin, Texas where we welcomed the city’s lively spirit and southern charm. Today, we call the City of Brotherly Love our home, where we share their lives with our beloved pup, Derby.
Julia went on to beautifully write how they got engaged so here is that unforgettable moment from her point of view: On our annual trip to Puerto Rico, we spent January 17th, 2023, exploring the local El Yunque Rainforest and the surrounding beach towns. After an adventurous and exhilarating day of cliff jumping and taste testing mojitos we decided to keep things casual that night. Michael decided to scrap his original proposal plan, and in its place, suggested a picnic on the beach. Pizza and wine in hand, we made our way to the beach for sunset and Michael asked me to marry him! We spent the remainder of the trip soaking in the excitement of our engagement and spending beach days daydreaming about our wedding day.
Don’t mind us swooning over here! My favorite part of their story is the pizza and wine in hand on the beach before Michael popped the question. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is! Right after the proposal, the fiancés started to plan their lavish and elegant August wedding.
The August Wedding Day
The sun beamed through Julia’s childhood bedroom windows the morning of August 24, 2024; the day her and Michael would promise each other forever. With her bridesmaids and family, Julia started getting ready and enjoying the day. A heartwarming detail is that both of the bride’s parents went with her to pick out her wedding dress along with all the fitting appointments. That is such a special memory they all will share together forever.
Over at the Radisson, Michael was anxiously anticipating seeing his blushing bride and celebrating at the reception. His groomsmen made sure he was looking sharp and his mother added the boutonniere as the final touch before heading to the ceremony. Those anxious nerves were immediately calmed when Michael saw his breathtaking bride walking down the aisle to him. The girl he had known since childhood, created endless memories with, and had stood by his side was excited to enter this new chapter as man and wife. Michael couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion and let a few tears slip in that heartfelt moment. After mass, the new Mr. and Mrs. sealed their covenant with a kiss!
After the ceremony, Julia and Michael stunned in their couple and bridal party portraits in front of the church and at Glenmaura. Eager to join their guests, the newlyweds participated in their cocktail hour by greeting guests and enjoying the refreshments. It was clear everyone was ready to party the night away when the bridal party made some memorable entrances followed up by Julia and Michael. After traditional dances and sentimental toasts, dinner was served. Not long after, the band came alive and the dancing began! The band was another vendor that had also served the couple for other family weddings so the familiarity enhanced the atmosphere.
With their closest family and friends, the newlyweds danced the night away celebrating their lavish and elegant August wedding. At the reception they added fun elements like the limbo, late night fries, and a dollar dance! Photographing Julia and Michael’s day felt like a small family reunion with the most caring people and we were so honored to be a part of it!
