Katelyn and Ian’s countryside floral September wedding was the perfect mix of elegance, personal touches, and charm. Their wedding day was full of so many stunning details, our favorites were the INCREDIBLE florals and cows photobombing some of Katelyn and Ian’s portraits! The bride and groom wanted everyone to be able to be comfortable and enjoy the celebration of their love and that was executed perfectly with every detail. Katelyn and Ian were so fun to work with and everyone involved was so genuine, we truly felt like friends by the end of the day!
Their Love Story
After meeting through a co-ed agricultural fraternity at Penn State in fall of 2019, Ian texted Katelyn about a fraternity situation and they have been texting ever since! Between traveling the world and spending time together between classes, the pair were inseparable and wanted to spend every minute together. Although they might not have every detail of their futures planned out, Katelyn and Ian know they want to spend it together!
We always love hearing how different couples got engaged and this one is fun because Ian planned the whole thing to completely surprise Katelyn! After hiding the ring in his pocket all afternoon while doing regular farm work, he got down on one knee in the barn overlooking the cow pasture and asked her, “Will you marry me??” It was the picture perfect moment for a down home couple who enjoy the farm life together.
The Wedding Day
At her parents’ stunning home, Katelyn was preparing for the day she had anticipated for five years! She could not believe her countryside floral September wedding day was here as she stepped into her bridal gown and added the finishing touches. While the bride was getting ready, Ian was relaxed with his groomsmen enjoying a cold drink on a hot September day. Ready to walk down the aisle, Katelyn hopped into the convertible with her dad and was off to the ceremony. Ian’s smile when he saw his bride during the ceremony was heartwarming and before we knew it, their marriage was sealed with a kiss!
After the ceremony, we headed to the farm for photos and the rest of the wedding celebrations! In true farm style, a tractor and trailer was waiting to take us to photo locations. With the perfect September weather and the sweetest couple, Katelyn and Ian’s portraits came out so effortless and charming. Our personal favorites were taken in the cow pasture which felt very authentic to the bride and groom! We also live the farm life so any chance to integrate that into weddings is unique and something we will never decline!
The reception space was truly stunning with a crisp white tent, checkered dance floor, long family style tables, and the show stopping floral arrangements by Cedar and Sweet Pea along with flowers grown by the bride herself!! Other sweet personal touches were: the mini jars of honey as favors from Katelyn’s parent’s bees, mini jars of strawberry rhubarb jam that is Katelyn’s Grandmother Rose’s recipe, wooden yard games and flower boxes built by Ian, the cocktail hour grazing table had produce from their produce stand and cheese from the farm where Ian works, one of the dinner meat options is brisket from the cows that Ian raises and sells, Katelyn and her mom making homemade perogies, and a late night snack of fresh cut french fries using potatoes that they grew! The fries were inspired by their college days of going out and getting a tray of fresh cut fries with their friends at the bar.
From beginning to end, Katelyn and Ian’s wedding was full of their personal touches which showcased their many skills, passions, and love of nature and farming. As someone who is passionate about the same things, it was unique to connect with Katelyn and Ian in this way and learn from their experiences. When remembering this wedding, the incredible flowers, photos with the cows, and genuine love Katelyn and Ian share will always come to mind!
Congratulations Katelyn and Ian!!
