Over the past year, Brit has become a dear friend to me, we’ve traveled together, shared many heart to heart conversations and always laugh way too much when we are together. Over lunch one day at Twigs, she was talking to me about her boyfriend JD. One of my favorite questions to ask people is “How did you two meet?” so of course I asked. They went to the same high school but never dated or really looked at each other as anything more than friends. They both got accepted to Penn State Main Campus (JD & a friend tried to trick Brit into thinking they had received their acceptance letters before her which caused Brit to freak out a little bit thinking that she didn’t get accepted…but a few days later, her letter arrived…which then caused the boys to sweat a little bit because they were actually the ones who hadn’t gotten their letters!) and continued their friendship through college. It wasn’t until one snowy night when they had been out having some fun and were walking back to their dorms that they realized it might be something more than just friends (if you want to laugh, ask Brit to tell you the story about this night!).
They dated for a few years, graduated, moved back to their hometown and started their grown up jobs. They parted ways, they both had some growing up to do and oh it was hard. But God works in mysterious ways and after working in both of their lives, He brought them back together. It’s always so reassuring to hear stories like this…this is the real life stuff, the stories that don’t get told often enough. The stories that aren’t the fairytale love story but the ones filled with God’s grace and how He works all things together for our good.
Just a few weeks ago when Brit & I traveled to New Orleans together, we were talking on one of our late night car rides to the airport about marriage. And oh how excited I am to see these two get married! I feel honored she asked me to get to capture their story and their wedding day! It’s going to be so good!!
Enjoy this little peek into their engagement session at Chippy White Table with their cute puppy Jack!!
