A little over a month ago, a very strange inquiry email arrived in my inbox requesting to book engagement photos for November 2. I responded and honestly didn’t even think I’d get a reply because it seemed like spam. But I got a response and this time the name came through as “Nick Durling”…and that was my friend Erica’s boyfriend’s name. Cue the screaming in excitement in my office! We’ve talked about this day from the very start of our friendship 3 years ago…and IT WAS FINALLY HAPPENING! AHH! The only problem was that the proposal was a month away and I had to keep the surprise from Erica. For anyone who knows me, I get way too excited about surprises and have a hard time keeping them. So for the past month I talked verrrryyy little to Erica because I couldn’t handle the pressure. I used the “I’m sorry I’ve turned into such a bad texter” more times than I should have to cover up why I was being a lame friend hah!
Wednesday seemed to go by so slowly but finally got the long awaited phone call from Erica…SHE WAS ENGAGED!! Nick & I had planned to do their engagement photos on Thursday which was perfect because let’s be real, I couldn’t wait to hug her, see the ring & scream in excitement together! 😉
Erica started mentioning this guy named Nick a little over a year ago, she worked at the gym in Tunkhannock & he started talking to her. Erica wasn’t so sure about him, she had her fair share of other guys asking her out on dates from the gym & she wrote him off as one of them. Nick persisted though and finally convinced her to go to Christmas in my Hometown in Tunkhannock…not as a date, strictly as friends, Erica was sure to tell me. But then that turned into going out to see a movie, then another, and she finally decided to let him take her out as his date. From day one, I saw a light in Erica’s eyes that I had never seen…she was so happy. They fell in love over their mutual love for books & Harry Potter. Last January, they read books together instead of watching TV & I knew right then that she had found her person. It only made sense to start their engagement session at the library!
Congratulations Erica & Nick! Love you guys so much! It’s such a blessing to get to see how God has worked in both of their lives to bring them together & can’t wait to see how He continues to work in their lives! This next year of wedding planning going to be so fun!!
