It couldn’t have been a colder January day for this session with Joe & Brittany but it was a fun bonding experience for sure! We went for a walk through the woods to the family cabin then ended by ice skating on the pond all while listening to Joe’s commentary the whole time.
I’ve been friends with Joe since we were little, we’ve been through a lot of different things and have a lot of fun memories together. He’s the type of friend who will always tell you the truth, even when it’s definitely not what you want to hear but he’s also the friend who will be the listening ear when you need it and make you laugh at the end of your rant. I always knew it would take a special girl to be his wife, I remember rides home from youth group with him and talking his ear off about this or that and saying he worked too much to date and he would always say “I’ll make time when I find the right girl”. Well fast forward a couple years to this past summer & that right girl came along when he went on missions trip to Guatemala with our church. Brittany & Joe had met at meetings before they left but never said more than a few words to each other but they hit it off immediately. Brittany said they hung out all week between different activities and by the end of the trip, they both knew they liked each other. Their first date was to Originials Pizza and the rest is history.
I knew it was pretty serious from the beginning because I knew Joe wasn’t the type just to date for the fun of it, but as the skeptical friend I am, I wasn’t a fan of it at first but the more and more I saw of them together, I knew they were perfect and could see how God’s hand had worked in it. My biggest fear/sadness was that I was losing a best friend, but I can’t tell you how untrue that is, I’m really gaining a new best friend! Seriously, people don’t tell you how fun it is to have your friends get married! It’s been so fun already to get to know Brittany & have some girl nights with her, I can’t wait for her to live so close in a few months!
They love serving together & are already looking forward to going back to Guatemala to see the little kiddos, but here, they enjoy doing just about anything, as long as they’re together. This winter they’ve been doing a lot of ice skating together so we knew we had to include that in the engagement photos!
Joe & Brittany are getting married in June so the next couple of months are going to be filled with lots of wedding planning (so excited!!). I may or may not have cried when they asked me to photograph their wedding, it means so much to get to be a part of my friend’s special day doing what I love!
You guys are adorable and I’m so thankful for both of you & excited to see what God has planned for your marriage!
