How did C&A come to be? C & A came to be in 2009 in Richmond, Virginia. However, our expertise began years before – at C & A we are a mother-daughter duo. My mom, Cathy, has worked in the wedding industry her whole career – working at elite member only country club and high end hotels – from sales to catering to the little details she has seen it all! I am an only child, in middle school I would beg to go to work with my mom – I set tables, filled in contracts and folded napkins – whatever they would let me do. The love for weddings is in our blood, we eat, sleep, breathe weddings. We talked for numerous years about starting our own company and in 2009 we were ready to go full force with C & A. In, 2013 we relocated to Central New York and I guess you could say the rest is history.
What do you specialize in? We specialize in wedding planning, styling and custom floral design.
What’s your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is curating each and every wedding with our couple’s – planning all the details and designing the flowers to fit their budget, their vision and their dreams.
What is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be? Remember to breathe and relax – the planning process is stressful but it will fly by. Your wedding day will be gone in a flash – soak it in, relish in the moments – after all you are marrying your best friend.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day? The moment right before the bride walks down the aisle is my favorite moment – I’m standing there with her at the peak of the day, taking a breath with her, shedding a little tear – the next moment I speak with her she will be a Mrs. It’s emotional, it’s raw and it’s incredibly powerful.
What has been the highlight of your career? Trying to pinpoint the highlight of my career is difficult.. whew. There have been quite a few humbling experiences – having couple’s exclaim that we have made their dream wedding come to life means so much to us. Having a bride cry the moment she sees her bouquet or reception space because we have made her vision happen – I cry right there with her. Continuing a friendship with our client’s even after their wedding day is truly amazing, quite often our client’s become our friends and the relationship doesn’t come to an abrupt stop. After all at C & A we are family, family has always been our foundation and will always be why we do what we do!
