Liberia // Day One

From my journal August 4, 2016:

Just climbed into bed-it’s about 10pm here & rainy. We arrived in Liberia last night around 8pm & were greeted by Titus at the airport. He took us to the guest house on ELWA & we went right to bed. Today we started with a 6am breakfast & leaving at 7am. Mom went to her first day of teacher training at a school in Sinkor. Dad, Suzanne, & I went to the Kangar’s home for the first day of the Women’s Conference. It turned out to be a mixed conference but it was really good! Suzanne did an awesome job with the teaching! I played with the kids in the community & talked with the women while we made lunch. I enjoy interacting with them doing the daily life things & learning the culture. Even though they speak English, each trip it takes some re-learning the accent & Liberian-English, so it was nice to get to talk to the women in a small group setting. After the training, Dad picked us up & we went to the store to get dinner. We made some spaghetti & spent the evening chatting about our days.
