If you’ve been around a little while, you may have seen me talk about the Rising Tide Society before but for those who aren’t sure what that is, it’s a group of creative entrepreneurs from around the world that believe in “community over competition”. I am the leader of the Scranton, PA chapter and what a blessing it has been to me.
It’s an opportunity to cultivate real relationships with other creative business owners who know exactly what you’re going through. They get the challenges that come from being your own boss, they know the feeling of excitement when you book a bride, and they turn into your biggest cheerleaders!
We meet once a month in the Scranton area for coffee or in Tunkhannock at Chippy White for cookies. At the meetings, we talk about what’s been going on in our businesses and also learn from a lesson that the main office sends out. From social media, to client relations to rest, and everything in between. It’s not only learning from the information that we receive from the leaders but the conversation that follows with the group & personal experience that really make it worth it.
In November, we decided we wanted to give back to the community in some way. We decided on everyone bringing in toys for Mission Scranton, a local ministry that teams of volunteers go hold children and teen Bible study nights in an inner city community. The toys are part of a life skills system where children earn points throughout a night that can be used to purchase toys or other merchandise from the store. If you would like more information, get in touch with Nathan Miller from Clarks Summit University.
This is your reminder to give back this holiday season, a simple smile to a small donation to a local charity or ministry goes a long way!
